Young Adults Group Update
The ITP Young Adults Group recently held its first virtual meeting in May, bringing together a great group of young people from across the ITP community.
The session provided an opportunity for new members to introduce themselves, learn more about the aims of the group, and share their experiences of living with ITP. Discussions covered a range of topics relevant to the group, including education, early careers, and the challenges of transitioning between paediatric and adult care – as an ITP Patient. Given the mix of experiences within the group, there was also valuable discussion around the concerns and questions often faced by those who are newly diagnosed with ITP.
The engagement throughout the meeting was excellent. Members openly sharing their experiences and supporting one another. It highlighted the real value of creating a space where ITP patient can connect with each other.
Following the success of this first meeting, the group plans to continue with monthly virtual sessions, alongside an in-person meeting at the upcoming ITP Annual Conference, followed by an informal social gathering afterwards.
We’re all really excited about the future of the group and the opportunity it presents to support, connect, and empower young people living with ITP.
