Following last year’s well-received ITP Convention in London, several members approached us with a request that we should consider holding a future event in the North West of the country? Therefore, we are pleased to announce that our 2018 Convention will take place at Chester Race Course on Sat 27th October from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Once again, we are pleased to announce that we have invited a fantastic group of ITP specialists to make presentations at the convention. Previous surveys have highlighted that expert speakers are by far the most important requirement at conventions. We are therefore pleased to be able to include Dr Cindy Nuenert from New York who is one of our medical advisors on childhood ITP with several other well-known and respected specialists in ITP. We also have a presentation on counting platelets and how this achieved.
We understand from the surveys of delegates that some patients with the condition, feel too intimidated to attend. The feedback we receive at the end of conventions is that patients feel more relaxed about their condition and this helps them to deal with everyday life, both through what they have heard at the presentations, being able to talk to the specialists over a coffee or lunch and from meeting others with ITP. The presentations explain about ITP and related issues with the intention of increasing patient confidence and easing the fear and worry that so often accompanies this rare condition. Their presentations are not depressing or scary and they often give patients ideas to take back and discuss with their own doctor. Do give it a try if you haven't been before!
Holding this year’s event in Chester also has the advantage of having access to great transport links, be it road, rail or air. Chester is a fabulous venue for a weekend break in an old Roman city steeped in history with amazing architecture and the Roman walls to the old city.
Thanks to the support and sponsorship from pharma we can keep the ticket prices in line with last year, £40 per ticket (concession price of £25 per ticket for paid-up members). So why not make it a weekend away but book early to avoid disappointment.
